Why Spay/Neuter is important for cats

Owning a pet of any kind can be a very rewarding experience. Cats, in particular, make fantastic companions.  There are many cat tips that if followed can ensure your cats health increasing the longevity of his or life. The most important cat tip that should be followed by every owner is to spay or neuter your pet. Spaying or neutering your cat is important for many reasons.

Spaying or neutering your cat ensures cat health; in fact the odds of breast cancer and uterine infections as well as prostate problems and testicular cancer are greatly reduced for females and males respectively.

Another important aspect that makes spaying and neutering your cat a great cat tip is the ease of training following fixing your companion. Now you’re pet will be less likely to roam and live with less distractions, thus making him or her easier to train. Now that your cat is less likely to roam they are now less likely to become lost or to get run over by a motor vehicle.

Not only are you increasing your cat’s health and saving him or her from distractions but you are also doing your part in stopping countless amounts of cats from being euthanized at animal shelters. Now that your precious cat is unable to reproduce you will not be a responsible party in the growing number of homeless animals. Often cat offspring become homeless for many reasons. The only way to make an impact in preventing cat homelessness is to put a stop to unwanted and unnecessary reproduction.

Regardless of which reason you feel is most important, albeit they are all very important, making the decision to spay or neuter your cat will make an impact on your cats health and well being as well as the health and well being of other cats. It is a decision that should be viewed as a necessity to all pet owners.
