Topic: Support And Suggestions / Battle for cuteness - feedback

how do the cats/kittens get picked for battle?

i couldn't figure it out for the Cat vs Dog and again for this battle?

is it random picking or do you have to submit your kitty?

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / I need advice!! Peed Off:(

Problem solved:

1. Removed new cat.  (friend adopted her)

2. Destroyed every blanket she walked by.

3. Disposed of sofa.

4. Make sure Taz's dinner is on-time and ultra-yummy.

5. Refer to Taz as "Your Holiness" and bow whenever he walks into the room

6. Take lots of blue bills......  =(^0^)=

Let's talk aboout REAL travel. I am planning a move this summer from Tokyo to Saskatchewan (central Canada). I have never flown with a cat before. what are some do's and don'ts?? It is a loooong flight. first leg is 9-10hrs. (that's in the air--not accounting for the time in the cage before the flight (maybe four hours).

Topic: Support And Suggestions / HELP!! Urinating at his discretion

Taz and I haven't been on-line much dealing with the crisis of Marnie. She has settled in Hiroshima and other than her chronic condition, she seems to be well. (the following situation has nothing to do with Marnie. She was only at my house for about two weeks. He did have his first mishap while she was there. But she has been gone for months now) Taz, on the other hand is a whisker away from driving me completely insane. He has destroyed my sofa. It's irrelevant that it was GORGEOUS. What is relevant is how am i going to stop this behavior. I think it started when Marnie arrived and my subsequent holiday. He gets pissed off and so on. He has destroyed my sheepskin rug. He has peed on my sleeping bag. The litter I use is the two tiered system of wood pellets that captures the feces and is scooped IMMEDIATELY. The wood pads are changed weekly as recommended...there is NEVER an odor that I can notice and I have a fussy nose. He is less than a year old--can he have a urinary tract infection that soon?? He eats high quality cat food so I know the ash level can't have affected him that soon?? Is he just BAD? He really believes that he is in charge. For example, the other night he was sqawking at me to play with him..i had been playing with him for some time and was taking a break... when i ignored him he went directly to the bathroom sink and squatted. I turned the faucet on full (cold) directly on to his back....he didn't budge. I actually had time to go get my camera and take a picture. That is how beligerent he is. I did just go away for two days. He had a cat sitter...but this is rediculous! How do I deal with him acting out of anger? I will capture his urine and take it to the vet to make sure he doesn't have an infection. But, I am sure it is psychological. I will move the second litter box inside from the balcony so he can always get at it. In all my years of having cats I have never seen such a willful cat!! Did the vet screw up when he fixed him??Maybe he still has his nuts?? Cause I know I am nuts!! HELP!!

Topic: Health, Diet And Vets / Leukemia

The fun never ends. We have just discovered that Marnie has leukemia. Taz does not. I've done a bit of research and have discovered HOPE...as in a "False Positive". Marnie is staying at a friends until we can sort this all out. Does anyone have any experience with multiple cats and this disease? Both cats need to be retested in a month to two months. What a nightmare!

Thanks to both of you. I think you are right. He seems to be back to his usual self. A couple times now he has jumped in to the sink and started to crouch and then thought better of it and stopped. I thought the fact that he continually beats the crap outta Marnie, the new cat, and has his fangs in some part of her at all times was a clear enough message that he's the boss!! OK, not all the time...they do sleep and they are craaaazy about each other:) Got my paws crossedXX

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / I need advice!! Peed Off:(

Taz has taken to urinating in the bathroom sink. Right over the drain. Just a little recent history (within last three weeks): We have a new cat. Soon after, I went away and had a house sitter (with whom they were aquainted with). A day before I left (new cat had been with us four days), he (I'M guessing HE) urinated in a Costco heavy duty bag he often played inside. When I came back, he did it in front of me (in sink). He ALWAYS climbs inside the sink when I am getting ready in the morning. There was some mental trauma while I was away, he stopped eating got the runs, went to the vet, yadda yadda. Drama Drama. Anyway, when I got back and discovered this had occurred while I was away, I decided to neuter him tout suite. I was going to wait to let things settle down but he urinated in a cardboard box he plays in. I've been home for about a week now. He seems very well adjusted to Marnie, his new sibling. He's a bit aloof with me but he has always been a snob. He has someone else to play with now. But, his appetite is fine. I get the morning love-ins and his voice is back...all signs show a healthy, well adjusted cat. This morning he peed in front of me again! So is this his new habit? Peeing in the sink? I can live with it if he doesn't do it anywhere else...will he do it somewhere else?? Anyone have this experience?? HELP!

Topic: Fun / How did you get your name?

Mariposa--'cause Mom's first cat (when she was 6) was named Butterfly. She was beautiful, like me! So, in honor of her she named me Mariposa (Sp.for butterfly). But she calls me Marnie and sometimes Sookie. The shelter people called me Mickey-chan. Eeech! I do not look like a mouse!! I'm definitely a Marnie...just like Hitchcock's mysterious lady with an unknown past.

You are doing a fantastic job. The only thing that would be cool, if at all possible, is someway to have better communication within the stream. For example, I need to meow my cat pal directly to ask a question. If I ask a general question it can be lost if there is a lot of activity. I would like to send mass questions or greetings to groupings of my catpals. I know that was what FORUM is supposed to do...however, like I said, if kitties are chatty a forum entry on the home page will soon be passed by. I apologize if this feature is available. I haven't seen it. (ie. not really private chat rooms but something everyone can see. And the target recieves) That would be puuuurrrrffect!

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Kitten discipline/diversion advice...please!!

Help me! The monster is tearing the bajeepers out of the air conditioning hose. When I chase him away, throw water on him or grab him and threaten his life--he thinks I am playing and goes back to the hose with renewed vigor! I've blocked it with furniture but he worms his way in...what a pest. He has scratching thing-a-ma-bobs. When I chase him out of the plants or the lighting fixtures...he's good. But the hose is something else. Any advice??

Topic: Fun / Accidental Inventor of Fantastic Cat Toy?

Taz is always looking for new things to destroy, er PLAY with...I've been able to keep ahead of him most of the time. He enjoys the ping pong balls in the shower, knotted up straws, balled up tin foil, cellophane, and ankles. Has anyone created something from scratch that drives their kitty nuts?? TELL ME! TELL ME!! (BTW: the kitty tent from IKEA was the best 10 bucks I've ever spent!)

I value my life too much to try and put clothing on The Beast. But, I think something is in order. A variation on themes. Costume Pix, Scary Pix, Spooky Vids, etc.

Thanks for your reply....I'm not worried about the Beast's looks--he's GORGEOUS!!!I heard that the tail withers and drops off...and that really creeps me out. I'm embarrassed to even ask: Does that really happen? Am I really this naive??

Topic: Advice, Training And Tips / Tall Tail

When Taz arrived about a month ago, his tail was malformed at the tip. Now there are three distinct crinks. It's hook-like now. He's a mixed breed with his Japanese bobtail attibutes seemingly dominant. What can I expect from this tail? The urban legend gives me the willies.

Not sure as Taz is feral. Probably Taurus. Definitely Wild Boar--Japanese Zodiac. Both fit him well!

I wandered around for about a week and a half before my mom decided. She considered "Z" and "Ozzy". I guess I trashed the kitchen once too many times...I'm a kitten, that's my job!
