Good-bye, Sylvester, my friend...

Today, my oldest, dearest feline friend passed over the Rainbow Bridge.  She had been in failing health for a few weeks and I knew that it was getting time as she was giving me “those” signs.  Sylvester has always been a fighter, always.  She fought up to the last as her body failed her.  For the last two days she had refused to eat and today when I came home from work I fould that she had vomited blood several times, an area covering about 4 foot square.  She was miserable and so I called my Vet, who is also my employer, and told him that it was time.  Sylvester gave me the sign that she was done fighting.

She gave me many years of happiness, a warm lap, and someone to share my secrets and the last bite of my meal with.  I will miss her greatly. 

My husband, my parents, my sister and I went out to celebrate Sylvester’s life.  Her favorite thing to do was eat so we went out for supper in her memory….

I love you, Sylvia.  I will be looking for you when it’s my turn…

Stupid dogs!

Granny Sylvester here.  I have a “tuna” stuck in my craw that I have to get out.  My Mom’s old dog, Harley, rest his soul, passed away last April.  Boy, did I have fun with that dog and his Daddy both when they were young!  I used to tease them!  Even get a ride as I held onto their head with my teeth!  Oh, those were the days.  Well, Mom recently came home with another one of the barkin things and you know, I just don’t have the energy or patientience to deal with this one.  Harley was a lot bigger, this one is little and full of himself!  I smack him in the head and he just comes back for more all bouncing around like it’s a game or something!  If he just understood that in my language i was calling him a big stupid idiot, maybe he would get it.  What’s an old cat to do?  Although I DID STEAL his bed!  Ha! Ha! Ha!  The youngest feline in my family here even made friends with that stinking dog!  I told her that it would never work.  The next thing she knows and he is chasing some other cat that is fluffier and wanting to pull her tail, but she never listens.  Lexus and I keep giving him the what for…..........ya give em’ books and ya give em’ books and all they do is chew on the pages….......

Sylvester update...

Well, our household has been through a lot lately.  We bought a house and moved, my dog is sick and Sylvester went through a spell where she didn’t want to eat.  She is down to 10lbs. and is being the most pickey of eaters that I have ever seen!  I finally found food that she will eat, a vet only food made by Royal Canin, it’s canned food in a pouch.  She is going wild over that.  I am SO GLAD!!  The thing that I am most upset with is that she is pulling her hair out.  She had bald spots all over her body.  Her doctor said that there is a shot that he can give her but it will really mess with her diabetes and he doesn’t want to do that.  So I guess I will just have to deal with a bald cat…........can anyone knit her a sweater??    LOL

Tumor Results

Hi!  Lexus here again.  I forgot to tell you all about Sylvester’s tumor results.  Silly me!  That is very important!  I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE RESULTS CAME BACK NEGATIVE FOR CANCER!!!!  I was so HAPPY  to hear that!  Although the tumor did have some negative affects on the muscle that it with entwined with.  She will make a full recovery!

Sylvester is doing well!

Hello All!  Lexus here, I guess I have been choosen as the family reporter.  Sylvester gave us all a scare last week.  Her surgery site drain evidentily plugged up and she had a serum pocket that got huge.  She wouldn’t let anyone mess with it because it hurt.  Mom and Dad got advice from the doctor and got the drain unplugged….WOW!  That was a mess and gross!  Sylvester is feeling better now and is finally done with antibiotics and she should get her drain and staples out this next week.  I will have Mom post pictures of her would after she gets her staples out.

Sylvester's Surgery

Lexus here.  Just wanted to update everyone on my house sister, Sylvester.  She is home and doing okay.  The Doctor gave her medicine to fight infection and some medicine to help with pain cause her ouchee hurts her.  My Mom said that she would post a picture of Sylvester’s ouchee.  Mom said that the Doctor told her that it was a naughty tumor.  It was deep in Sylvester’s muscle and it was about 2" wide under the skin.  YUK!  Mom said that the Doctor was going to send the tumor into another place to find out if it is cancer or not.  It was going to take 2 weeks before that information is available, so now we wait.  I hope that it’s not cancer!!  Anyway, that’s the update for now.  I’m going to keep my paws crossed that it’s not cancer.  I will let you all know when Mom finds out!

Bad News for Sylvester...

Sylvester is needing all of her friends’ kitty prayers.  Her Mom found a lump on her shoulder and was worried about it.  Mom took Sylvester to the Doctor and he told Mom that it is a tumor that needs to be removed.  Sylvester to to have surgery on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.  Everyone keep their kitty fingers crossed for her that she makes it through and the tumor isn’t cancer.
