APOLOGIES

I dressed up a couple of Susies 'pals' photos and posted them to their owners as barks.....as fun ...one pal complained ..to me about me'using' owners photos....so if any of the other pals are upset   -    I am sorry there was no 'ill will' behind it, just interactive fun. sorry.  It is something we do all the time on MDS to our pals so I assumed it was ok here.

Too bad you don't see my point Catjungle, I'm not gonna keep debating this, cause it really doesn't make Pat happy to have this arguiment going on in her blog, so this will be my last reply to this post here; it was not my intentions to cause a fight of any sort, I just stated what I felt like about people using MY pictures, I am just being honest, no one should be relucant to tell something bothers them, and I know no fool play was intended, I didn't want any hard feelings on this, so take your own advice; for me it was already a closed chapter and we moved on. Further, I just stated legal information about usage of other people's pictures without their consent, plus it is also a simple matter of courtesy. I know I am right about this and said what I wanted to say, too bad you see my point as trying to ruin other people's fun obviously, while that's not my intention; the internet is not a safe place,it can happen and happened before that people will steal pictures (and other things that are yours or you made) and use pictures of people in ways the owner of the pictures sure wouldn't want, copyright rules are also there to protect you. I know this isn't the case here, I am NOT accusing Pat of doing these things, she's just having fun! I hope everyone can still have the fun they had, with this in the back of their mind. That's all. Have a great day catlovers! I rest my case.

I'm pretty sure those silly kitty photo parodies would fall under the Fair Use clause.

Lighten up!  geez!

Yes I see your point.

I am not wrong, look it up. Not everything online is free to use, unless the owner states it is. You surely are not alowed to use anyone's pictures without permission unlike many think, that's where a lot go wrong. The owner of a picture can send you a DMCA takedown to this site, if it is ignored, you can be taken to court. I "complain" because I am very touchy about copyright yes, like I explained to susie's owners, I have seen it happen a lot of times on the internet, people think everything is free to use, and impersonate you or steal your work, I don't think it's respectful to use other people's proprety without asking the owner. I know she didnt mean to offend or to be rude and I don't have any hard feelings really, I just wanted to inform her of this, that's all. If other people don't mind their pics to be used for this purpose, I do not have a problem, that's up to everyone individually, I just think it wouldn't be a bad thing to ask prior, if you don't really know the person very well personally, I know how it is intended and I don't want to whine (although you probably think I already am), I know it is a sign of kindness, but it is still using other people's images. I see your point, do you see mine?

It is ok here!  I do it all the time too on MDS.  And darksky, you are wrong.  As long as the pictures are not copyrighted, we're allowed to decorate them without asking on here.  You're the only one that I've seen complain.  The others really like it.  They take it as a sign of friendship.

You can have fun with our pics anytime.  Our Human tries but hers always come out a bit tacky. ( We mean that in the nicest way).  You can put party hats on us, put us in sports cars, you can even dress us in drag.  We think that it is kind of fun.  Of course our photos are not from a pro so go to town.  We want to be blingee!

Some of the b/w cat photos on mycatspace are really good.  We wish our human could shoot like that.

it's better to always ask to the owner of the pictures if they don't mind ;) usually most wont mind, but will be happy you asked!

It's not true what you say Olie. A picture will always be the proprety of the one who made it and what is on the picture (if its a pic of you, you also have rights to that picture even if somebody else made it.) it's common sense and involves respect. imagine somebody snatches a naked pic of you and acts like they can do whatever they want with it because they made it? copyright is a tricky thing, but be sure that not everything that's uploaded to the internet is free domain, in contrary, it is only public and free if the owner/maker says so.

as long as everyone is okay with and aware what is being done with their pictures, there is no problem, and of course there's no hard feelings, there was never a bad intentions from Patricia, she was just having fun and I hope we can keep having fun!

No, don't stop!  If anyone wants to dress up or Blingee us kitties, we'd love the thought!  Our human is a photographer too, but she doesn't use us kitties' photos to make money off of - just to love!  So no copyright infringement worries with us..  Our beeyootyfull fotos are for the world to share!

Interesting!  Good to know... I do it all the time at MDS also.  I love what some people do with my photos... I get pictures of the dogs in fire trucks and all kinds of fun stuff (their Daddy is a firefighter).  I guess I can see where it's sensitive for some, has never been an issue at MDS, but I'll avoid it here!  I think to some extent though, people have to realize that by uploading a picture to a public website, the picture is now public and free to be used by whomever for whatever and the owner may or may not ever know... anyway, glad there are no hard feelings between you and your pals!  The best one was when I sent out the picture of Olie and Ember in their little swimming pool just the other day- Monty sent it back with about 5 more dogs crammed in there!  SO funny!
