Pumpkin is an oddball. You never quite know how she will react to anything - except the cold. She loves to run around outside and get her exercise but you better get that door open when she's ready to come in! And have that heater running full blast! If the kerosene heater is on she will be in front of it, otherwise she will locate a space heater to curl up in front of.

Autumn is the baby of the kitties. Spoiled rotten, she's Mom's baby.

She was originally a stray that was at my Mother-in-law's house next door. She was such a tiny little thing that hid in the bushes.

When my Mother-in-law became terminally ill with breast cancer for a second time (stage 4, throughout her body) we moved her in with us. The kitten came up the hill to our house and was found crying under our car. She was immediately brought inside and fed. She then promptly won over everyones heart!

Sadly my Mother-in-law passed away beginning of January 2006. Autumn looked for her but I think all the cats knew she was gone. All three cats would curl up on her bed with her in the living room, or come check on her throughout the night. I believe they did their best to comfort her and ease her journey.  

Mom found me where I was hanging out at the office she goes to a few times a week for work. She fed me when she saw me but I was on my own, no home. The people at the office would set food out for me, but with no where warm to stay at night and I was losing weight fast.

There was one day when I saw her. She picked me up and said I'd lost way too much weight and she was going to call home. She gave me some chicken fom her sandwich and promised to come back later that day after she talked with "Dad."

I'd been told this before and couldn't bear the heartache. I could feel that there was some really cold weather moving in so I went and found the best shelter I could. (Mom told me that she came back that day twice and the next day too but I must not have heard her calling.)

It was cold and it was wet - and now I had a cold. I wandered around looking for food. It was getting late and colder so I went to find shelter again, giving up. That was when I heard the call. Surely I must be hearing things? So I listened closely and heard the call again.

I'd lost a lot of weight trying to stay warm. I didn't think I would last long, so with a bit of hope I followed the calling voice. She seemed so happy to see me and told me I was going home with her.

Long story short, here I am. I am trying to get along with the other cats but they're not giving me much of a chance. Pumpkin says she likes me. Jack tolerates me but doesn't like it when I climb on "his" human or in their beds. Autumn, she's the youngest, she's scared of my size I think. She's a little kitty even though she's two years old (according to the other cats.) She's been with Jack and Pumpkin since she was a baby and I think I scare her. I try not to scare her on purpose tho.

I'm just happy and thankful that I have a loving home and lots of food to eat, even special treats! I'm putting weight back on again but slowly. Got this darn cold from being out in the cold, snow and rain fo so long. Every time I sneeze Mom says "Bless you!" Humans are silly sometimes I Think.

Since I've been inside I have been feeling much better. Yeah!!! I have a home again!

Update 12-31-08

Well, Mom tells me that it was decided that I would be staying with this family for good, not moving in with someone else. Guess I need to get Autumn to like me so she'll stop hissing at me!

Mom tells me that I've gained about a pound and that she is looking forward to seeing the day when I'm at full weight again. She thinks I will be as big as Jack one day! WOW! He's a BIG CAT!

This morning I wouldn't stay off of Mom's shoulder. Mom said that I was her "Parrot-cat" - I can't help it if the sun was shining on her shoulder! I needed some sun! Mom just laughed about it even though I accidentally scratched her.

3-1-09 Yeah! I'm allowed to go outside every day now! WOOHOO! I enjoy roaming through the woods - and there are a lot of woods here to roam!

Mom said that she doesn't know my exact birthday but the Vet told her approximately how old. So now I share a birthday with Jack!

7-30-09 I told mom today that this body of mine isn't going to be going much longer. Mom said that she knows that I am old, tired and hurting but says she wishes I wouldn't die. She says that she knows that it happens to us all, but wishes we had more time together. I'm sure that I will come back, one form or another.

8-1-09 Boo left the house for the last time after a hearty meal of two cans of cat food. She bounced her way out the door and to the top of the driveway where she sat and waited for me to stop watching... then she disappeared, never to return again. I miss you my Boo-kitty!
