Vinnie - RIP
My parents had an appointment this morning to have Vinnie put to sleep. His kidneys were failing & he was senile. He was about 18 years old. Last year, he was given 3-6 months due to his kidneys, but as it's a year later, you can tell he was one stubborn cat. He will be missed. (if you notice his left ear, that's how he got his name - Vinnie Van Gogh. He was brought to the vet all beat up & injured & my parents adopted him from the vet's office).

Tropical Storm Fay - updated with photo
We were so sick of rain. We didn't even want to go on the patio with the winds & rain. Overall, we stayed dry. The dripping from the ceiling fan in the room with our food & one of the litter boxes got very annoying on Wednesday! Didn't keep us from our food though! Our mom said her parents' street was under 2 feet of water, but their house is safe (a few there weren't though unfortunately). Now, the squirrels and lizards are back out again for our viewing pleasure. We've even seen sun & blue sky! YEA!!

We have to be careful
We get such fun out of being underfoot with our mom. I'm guessing a lot of you do, too. Rubbing on her legs while she's walking (Tiny is especially good at this one), cutting right in front of her at high speed & trying to make it in to a race, that sort of thing. Well, now that fun is gone for a couple of months. Mom broke one of her toes. We have to be careful. We're cats; we are careful about certain things (like around water & loud noises), but not that. That's one of our favorite ways to play with Mom, so now what will we do? Any suggestions? We're at a loss. She still plays with us with wand toys & a laser, but they aren't contact sports. Life can sure be made difficult for cats sometimes. Sigh!
Workout Buddy
Hey, it's me, Bennie. My mom does this "stupid aerobics tape" & I try to help her out. I climb into the bed of the scratching post right there & I try to whack her hand when it comes near me & she tries to "bop" my head at the same time. She said it makes the tape more fun. Does anyone else act as a workout buddy? It's great fun!
By the way, we all love that huge scratching post. We were climbing all over it as soon as Mom brought it inside, so she couldn't even move it to its spot for a while. The picture is under Missy as she was the one actively climbing it then. The rest of us (except Tiny) are on it, too.
Crash!
My computer crashed over the long holiday weekend & I just got it back this afternoon. All of you who have sent us meows will here from us soon, we promise. Mom's just trying to get things set back up to the way she likes them. We just wanted you to know that we haven't forgotten our friends.

It's Squeakers. So, yesterday, I'm not far from the patio door, deciding if I want to go out there. Then, I hear this noise, & it's a squirrel hanging from the screen! It started running across the screen. For a moment, I didn't know what to do; I was so amazed the squirrel was there! So, I start to run out onto the patio to get it, with Missy not far behind me, but as soon as I got to where I was about to jump up after it, it leaped from the screen into the yard. I was so close to it! I don't know what I would have done as it was on the other side of the screen, but I'm sure I would have figured otu something. Mom commented that she's glad the patio has a strong screen.
Petition to save thousands of animals

This petition is to make Brevard County in Florida (home to Kennedy Space Center) a no-kill county. Thousands of animals are killed in shelters here each year & it needs to stop. If you could please let your friends know about this, too, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.
Good Timing
I guess it was a good thing that I got senior bloodwork done yesterday, even though I'm nowhere near being a senior cat. It detected a mild urinary tract infection. I've had them before & it's miserable; I keep trying to go anywhere I can. This caught it before I got to that point. I don't like taking the pills, but it's better than that misery. By the way, I'm a good boy & take pills without any problems. I like to be different from most cats in some way. - Squeakers
