Rescue Work

Just my little corner of the internet-

I work with a rescue group in Palmer-Wasilla, Alaska called "Mat-Valley Kitties"

Due to the over cat population and breeding out of control here in the valley, Many cats aren't given the chance to a decent home life. Instead, they are forced to live outside in our freezing winters and our rainy summers.

Why are so out of control you ask? Alaska's laws on animals aren't as influced as they should be. The laws on animal abuse are weak, thus making them felxible enough to move around freely.  Many people in Alaska have a deferent view on pets than most southern states. It's very common here to see a person pull over onto the side of the road and boot their pet out of a car.

This is where the Mat-Valley rescue groups come in. I myself have assisted in many rescue projects with Mat-valley kitties. Everything from dumping a mom cat and kittens in a parkinglot, to watching someone throw their pet out a car door going down the street, to forcing their own pets to live outside in the freezing cold.

If you are located in Alaska, please, take a look at our kitties up for adoption! Every kitty deserves a warm, loving home.

You certainly have your work cut out for you. It was very enlightening to me to learn of the cavalier attitude toward animals that you say is prevalent among a lot of Alaskan residents. It goes a long way toward explaining the pictures I have seen lately of your governor standing over dead animals that she has shot while hunting. Thank God for people like you who are taking on the pretty formidable task of saving the homeless animals. I hope others on this space will take a look at the Mat-Valley Kitties Rescue Group & help in any way they can. Keep up the good work. You sound like a very special person.

You guys are doing a great job, keep up the purrrwonderful work.

Those kittys out there will have a chance at a happy life, I understand what you mean about a different view....

we live in such a rural area, alot of people's attitudes are 'its just a cat' /shrug,  MEOW!!!! you are doing a good job and hopefully people will become aware that our babys are not JUST a cat. They are loving, purring, intelligent, social

and fun, our kittys bring joy to our lives and hopefully we bring joy into their lives. I hope all your cats find the most snuggly homes.

purrs and kisses Innocent

What a great job you are doing and the rescue website is really nice with the cat profiles. I hope some Alaskan residents read this and adopt.
