proper litter box usage

My 7 week old kitty doesn't know how to cover-up his deposits after using the box. He usually steps on it and comes out of the box in need of a quick shower. His sister is a pro - 1- dig hole, 2- deposit, 3- move away a tiny bit, 4- cover, and 5- don't step on it! Any advise? |

I honestly think it's jsut a young kitten thing. My kittens were doing the same thing last week, but then all of a sudden this week it's like they finally get it. Except Baxter likes to put his front paws on the edge of the littler box and kinda stand up to go... then when he's done he scratches the hell out of the litter box liner. I don't know how to get him to not do that, but I guess as long as he's making the litterbox I shouldn't complain lol! |

Cats are unique in that they do not form cataracts when affected with diabetes mellitus. However, they may have an abnormal posture where they are standing on their hocks instead of their toes (known as a plantigrade stance) or they may have chronic vomiting and diarrhea.

yeah - the little one had the runs for quite a while. Now that the medication has done its job, he is much better and uses the box properly. He may still step on it once in a while, but at least the poo is covered and solid so it doesn't stick to him. This was my first time dealing with diarrhea in cats - so who knew? And who knew it wasn't supposed to stink so much (they had giardia). Thanks for all the feedback! Everyone is well and happy now! |
