I'm in a dilemma,5 months ago I had a co-worker move in as a roommate (Big mistake)and she told me she only had 2 cats,I have 7 of me own and when she finally moved in she actually had 4 cats, all males and all spray, ever since I have asked her to get off her bum and get them fixed(Got vouchers from DSS) but she took her time, she now only has 2 more to get fixed but I doubt they will be neutured anytime soon, her cats have attacked mine numerous times and last week one of them hurt my Trinity and I almost went ballistic,my cats are my children so I'm verra protective, well her cat came close to being killed by me because he would not let my Trinity go well finally she got him off mine,I told her he has to go and she told me she doesn't have the heart to dump him at the SPCA and I told her thats not my problem,so I told her to make dam sure she keeps all her cats in her room and that has failed, now for the spraying,in the last 2 day's I have had 2 good friends pop in un-expectantly and I had not seen  them since before the roommate moved in and when they walked into my home they both covered their nose's,I was so embarrassed because even tho I have 7 cats my home never stunk from spray or their cat box's,her cats have sprayed my furniture,my carpet,my photo albums and now have taken to going into my bedroom and spraying my bed,I have told her when her cats have sprayed and all she say's is "sorry" but does nothing about it,but she makes darn sure her room don't smell, right now underneath my computer desk stinks of spray and I have taken measures to try and deterr her cats from peeing and spraying in the spots where they have sprayed,bleach,Anti-Ick-Poo but nothing is working,my furniture is ruined as well as my carpet,I'm on a fixed income which she is aware of but could careless, she doesn't save money so she lives paycheck to paycheck, her 14 yr old daughter is the exact same way,I need them to move out but as I mentioned she doesn't save money,I am hoping when she get's her Tax Return/Stimulas check she will then leave but until then I'm stuck in a smelly situation so I hope someone here can advise me or give me tips on how to nuetralize the stink in my home,I'm desperate because my 22 yr old son will be here in Dec and I don't want to be embarrassed again.

Thankye in advance for all replies,IceireUndecided

Wow! That sounds like a mess. Multiple cat houses usually have someone spray. Since her boys were not fixed you had a double dose it sounds.  I don't know how you are going to get your roommate to leave.

I suggest the kitty that is getting picked on, stay in your room with a cat box and  food/water and the door closed. You may want to keep a couple of your kitties in your room and a couple out in the other part of your place. Possibly there are a couple that get along with the other new cats. You need to keep your cats safe.

If she is not against getting rid a cat or two to a good home, maybe you can advertise online or in the pennysaver for a good home.

Cats are very territorial and those 4 cats invaded the home of the 7 cats. They are not like people just looking a for a place to share.

You also may not have enough cat boxes for that many cats. The experts always recommened 2 for each cat. I have 3 cats and 2 boxes and they seem to do ok,  so 2 per cat is not a hard fast rule, but with that many cats, you may need a couple boxes in each room.

I hope you can work things out. Poor kitties are just doing what comes natural to them. They are not little furry people.

Thankye lass for replying, actually I have 5 cat box's and she only has 1,that might be alot of the problem but I have a small quaint home and my 7 stay downstairs and it's her cats that come downstairs and make the muck happen,I poured a whole box of baking soda on the area under my desk and so far it's working but will have to do it mutipal times me thinks so as her felines will get a clue and stop going there, well time for Ghost Whisperer, have a grand evening my friend.

I have a household of 17 cat/kittens & I got new couches. I was reallllly tired of looking at how ragedy my old ones were getting but I also wanted to protect my new ones from scratching & spraying. So I did some research on some products and ended up getting this plug in called

Comfort Zone with Feliway Plug-In and Refills - PetSmart

Comfort Zone with Feliway Plug-In

& I was able to pick it up at my local Petsmart. So far the scratching is down 90% and the spraying is down 100%. It also seems to calm my cats down. I have less issues with the two dominant females in my home. So I'd say even the cat "arguing" is down 90%.
