I recently purchased one of those cat breed encyclopedias and was shocked when I turned to the page that read "Maine Coon". My little 1 pound kitten was color for color, feature for feature, identical to the Maine Coon kittens that were pictured. Its hard to believe that this little ball of fluff will one day turn into one of the largest breeds in North America. Their kitten size is very deceiving, I have to say! :)

Just wait until they really start growing! Socks is now 20 lbs! He hit that weight when he was 5. Meow!

I had a Main Coon about a year ago and I loved him to pieces. I had to get rid of him because situations made it happen. I miss him, although I don't miss him refusing to cover his poo!!! ;) They truly are a great breed

I am in love with Maine Coons and plan to someday get one myself. I especially love their playful, social nature and their size (more cat to love). Do any current owners have any qualms about them? Anything which future owners should know about that the shiny articles about them don't say? |

Maine Coon are the most laid back cat I ever had, more dog like in some ways. I will nebver regret getting this breed. They are Awesome. |

could someone please look at the picture of my cat Booger and tell me if he is one.
His mother is a purebred Coon and she was bred to another purebred Coon but then she got loose and when the kittens were born only 2 of them looked like Coons (Booger is one of those 2). The vet thinks he`s purebred and i was told cats can have multipul fathers for litters.
Booger is 26 pounds and will be 5 years old in January. the picture was taken when he was 3 years old. He`s a solid built kitty no fat on him even though (at 26 pounds) you would think he is fat. he has the double coat and the ruff around his neck but no lynx tips on his ears.
He acts more like a vicious attack dog than a cat. |
