Well, I guess that's kind of what the Forums are for... a lot of us that spend WAY too much time playing on these sites know what's up and it's been a topic of discussion for a while, but for those that are new and just learning, you kind of have to just jump into the discussion or read some of the info in the forums to catch up. As far as I know, nobody makes any money doing anything related to this site, so I never considered the possibility that there might be a monetary value on the gifts... it's just a fun "virtual" thing to share with "virtual" friends. And whenever someone doesn't understand what's up or has questions, that's why the Forums exist- ask your questions, get your answers, and hopefully we all land on the same page! Now that you've asked, someone has answered, therefore it IS written somewhere that they are virtual gifts, you just have to weed through some Forum discussions to figure that out. If you would like to make a suggestion with regard to how these gifts are handled, Robert is always a good listener and he tries really hard to make this fun for everyone; he even started a Forum discussion asking members to give him feedback and suggestions. I take it for granted I guess... the gifts make sense to me because I've known about this little program from the start, but if it doesn't make sense or isn't clear to new users, I'm sure Robert would listen to suggestions regarding how to make it easier. |

Unless it is clearly stated it is a very misleading practice and could potentially violate state and federal deception statutes. You are essentially admitting in your message that it is not clearly stated which could be further interpreted toward the owners culpability. You would be well advised to clarify your policy in a more evident way. As your site appears to have a revenue source in an advertising model you would be very vulnerable to litigaiton. |

The gift feature has been a part of various internet communities for years. I've never seen it stated anywhere that the gifts are virtual and have no monetary value. It's probably just assumed to be known. I don't think it's a 'trick' of any kind, just one of many features websites use to keep the community fun. |
